Hello,
***SORRY- TOPIC IS PREVIOUS DISQUALIFICATION

here my story in brief. I am 33 and when I was 22 I applied with the LAPD but was disqualified. When I was 12 and 14 my friends and I were caught shoplifting. They did some tipe of report and i was released to my parents and the police never showed up. The LAPD background investigation told me that I was arrested and I should have stated that I was arrested for theft. I could not understand this and I basically just left it alone. Now I am 33 and have earned my Master's in Crminial Justice, perfect credit score and driving record and never had any issues with the law nor personal. I want own my own business but would like to be a reserve officer for the LASD.

Is it a big deal when you have been previously disqualified in backgrounds?
Also, if I apply again, should I state that I was arrested when in fact I dont think I was?

Just explain everything like you just did and you'll be fine. BIs don't like surprises, so if you just tell them you were told you were arrested (which you may have been and then released to your parents instead of booked) but didn't think you were and that's why you didn't put it on your last background, you should be ok.

Is the background investigation the same for both reserves and full time?

I feel sort of scared Sine I was DQ in my first attempt. I never thought that would happened and now I am scared that they can pick at any insignificant thing and just make it a big deal.

They tend to make the biggest deal out of lies or omissions. If you're upfront with everything, they're not as likely to make a big deal out of anything.

Cool. That sounds a lot better then how it was 10 years ago. I remember having friends and they all told me horror stories about small things turning into big deals.

Do you know if the best way to apply for the reserve is to show up at the Stars center on the 3rd Tuesday?
